| The airports in the south of Spain cater to almost 15 million visitors a year. The major international airports are Alicante, Malaga, Almeria, Sevilla, Jerez and Granada. Cordoba is a national airport, there are no regular scheduled or charter flights but it is popular for general aviation. No Passport or visa checking facilities are available here and hence cannot offer clearance to visitors from non EC member countries or from non Schengen signatory countries. The international airports in the region are easily reached by all public transport: Alicante Airport is located 9Km South West of Alicante with good access to the A7-E15 motorway to travel North to Benidorm, Calpe and beyond to Valencia or South to Torrevieja, La Manga or beyond to Murcia and Almeria. Almeria airport is 9 kilometres to the east of the region's capital city, 500 metres from the coast on the gulf of Almeria and to the south of the Sierra Alhamilla. Jerez Airport is located 8Km North of Jerez with good access to the A4 E5 motorway to travel North to Sevilla or South to Cadiz and on towards Tarifa. Malaga Airport is located 8Km South East of Malaga to the E15 N340, Sevilla Airport is located 12Km North East of Savilla with good access to the motorway system.
